Farnham Castle is located in a World Craft Town

The ultimate venue for craft loving couples, party planners and event coordinators, and here’s the reason why…

The historic market town of Farnham in Surrey has recently been recognised as a World Craft Town. Tracing its roots back to the Bronze Age, Farnham, known for its historic buildings, Georgian streets and craft heritage, houses a population of 40,000 and is ideally located within easy access routes to airports, motorways and a direct train line in to London. Farnham is the first town in England to be recognised to receive this prestigious award and is only the third town in Europe.

Councillor Pat Evans, Mayor of Farnham says: “Farnham has a powerful reputation for craft education as well as nurturing and promoting the careers of some very talented makers. Our fantastic arts and crafts venues have enabled craft to be embedded into our everyday life. I am thrilled that Farnham has been awarded World Craft City status and for the opportunities this presents for both the visitor economy and the next generation of makers.”

Farnham Castle, located at the top of Castle Street in Farnham, Surrey, is a unique location to host a wedding, and, for couples who have a passion for craft, there are dozens of ways to incorporate craft in to their wedding day. From hand-crafted wedding invitations to wedding favours, floral arrangements, wedding décor and even a wedding cake, the opportunities to introduce craft to your wedding venue, located in a World Craft Town, are endless.

Farnham Castle is beautifully spacious and, as well as being an award winning wedding venue, is available to hire for product launches, meetings, parties, functions and events. We encourage companies and businesses to enquire and envisage how the space and grounds within the Castle walls can help them grow and develop their business.

Leader of Waverley Borough Council, John Ward, said: “As Farnham evolves, the historic value of craft will become one of the key elements of the local economy. Waverley Borough Council will be working closely with Farnham Town Council and Surrey County Council to strengthen Farnham’s role as a place of creativity and innovation.”

Farnham Castle is excited to share Farnham’s new World Craft Town status and looks forward to welcoming new and existing friends and clients to the Castle in the future.
